April 23, 2025

The Kwara State Government has partnered with the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) to launch a collateral-free loan scheme aimed at boosting food production and empowering farmers, agribusinesses, women, and youth. Announced during a visit by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Afees Abolore Alabi, to the Ilorin Bank of Agriculture branch, the initiative offers microloans up to 250,000 naira for smallholder farmers and SMEs and macro loans up to 1 million naira under tailored packages as civil servants can also access the loans through salary-backed plans. The program is designed to eliminate financial barriers and support inclusive participation in agriculture, reinforcing the state’s commitment to food security, rural development, and economic empowerment.
