Oluremi Tinubu Inaugurates ICT Centre at Kwara State University
The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated a TETFund-Renewed Hope Initiative ICT Experience Centre at Kwara State University, Malete.
The centre is part of efforts to equip Nigerian youths with digital skills and expand access to technology-driven learning in tertiary institutions.
Represented at the inauguration by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, Mrs Tinubu said the facility would provide opportunities for learning, research, creativity and technological development.
The centre is equipped with ICT laboratories, interactive digital displays, conference facilities and exhibition spaces. It is one of six institutions selected for the pilot phase of the initiative, with plans to extend the programme to 15 more tertiary institutions across the country.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq urged the university management to use the facility to drive innovation, create jobs and develop practical solutions to societal challenges.
The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny Echono, said the centre would help young Nigerians develop skills in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and robotics, while improving graduate employability.
The Vice-Chancellor of KWASU also said the facility would support research, entrepreneurship and stronger engagement between the university and its host community.
