Kwara Government Assures Communities on Smart City Project

The Kwara State Government has pledged fair consideration for residents of communities affected by the proposed Kwara Smart City Project, promising adequate compensation and protection of cultural heritage.
The assurance was given during a meeting in Ilorin with representatives of the Alalubosa community in Ilorin East Local Government. The Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is personally monitoring the project to ensure it adheres to global best practices, balancing socio-economic growth with the preservation of cultural identity.
According to the government, fears of job displacement have been addressed, as the project is expected to generate hundreds of employment opportunities for residents from inception through completion. Investors were also assured that their interests are secured and fully integrated into the project’s master plan.
The state reiterated its commitment to preserving historical and cultural landmarks within the Smart City area, with the Kwara State Geographical Information Service working alongside stakeholders to protect identified heritage sites.
Community representatives described the meeting as a reflection of the government’s transparency and inclusiveness, while investors operating in the designated area urged authorities to consider the peculiarities of their businesses. They nonetheless commended the Smart City initiative as a landmark development that distinguishes the AbdulRazaq administration.
