Four Dead, Six Rescued in Lagos Building Collapse

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that four people died and six others were rescued following the collapse of a three-storey building at 325 Bornu Street, Ebute Meta, Lagos.
According to LASEMA’s Director of Operations, Olatunde Akinsanya, the agency received a distress call around 6:00 p.m. on Friday and immediately deployed a response team. He explained that casualty figures could change as rescue efforts continue, given the complexity of the operation.
Multiple agencies, including the Lagos State Building Control Agency, police, fire service, and Federal Road Safety Corps, were involved in the rescue. Akinsanya said their swift intervention prevented further loss of lives despite the magnitude of the incident.
Two of the rescued victims had spent nearly three days trapped under the debris before being pulled out alive, bringing the total number of survivors to six.
He commended residents for cooperating with emergency responders, noting improved public awareness on crowd control during crises.
Rescue operations are still ongoing as officials continue clearing debris and searching for possible survivors.
