Weah and Drogba Join FIFA Panel to Fight Racism in Football

September 8, 2025

African football legends George Weah and Didier Drogba have joined a new 16-member FIFA panel created to tackle racism in football. The Players’ Voice Panel, approved by all FIFA member associations, aims to involve former players in leading efforts on education, reform, and sanctions against discrimination. Weah, former Ballon d’Or winner and ex-Liberian president, will serve as honorary captain, while Drogba joins as racial abuse continues to be a major issue in stadiums and online. FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the panel puts players at the center of football’s fight against racism.
