Tinubu Mourns Former Kogi Governor Ibrahim Idris
President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, who died in the United Kingdom on Sunday at the age of 77.
The President, in a condolence message issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described Idris’s death as a loss to his family, Kogi State and Nigeria.
Tinubu extended his condolences to the Idris family, the Kogi State Government and the people of the state, as well as the former governor’s friends, associates and political colleagues.
The President recalled Idris’s years in public service, particularly his tenure as governor of Kogi State from 2003 to 2012, during which his administration implemented projects and programmes in infrastructure, education, healthcare and other sectors.
Tinubu also acknowledged the former governor’s involvement in Nigeria’s democratic development and his years of service in public affairs.
The President prayed for the repose of Idris’s soul and asked God to grant his family the strength to cope with the loss.
Idris’s death has also attracted condolences from political leaders and other stakeholders. Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo had earlier declared three days of mourning in honour of the former governor.
