Shettima to Deliver Nigeria’s Statement at UN General Assembly on Thursday
Vice-President Kashim Shettima will represent President Bola Tinubu at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York and deliver Nigeria’s national statement on Thursday.
Nigeria is scheduled as the fourth speaker in the afternoon session, with Shettima expected to address the General Assembly between 4pm and 4:30pm New York time, which is 9pm to 9:30pm Nigerian time. He will lead a delegation including Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, ministers and other senior officials.
Shettima is also expected to attend high-level meetings and hold bilateral discussions with foreign leaders, international organisations and development partners on issues affecting Nigeria and Africa. The 81st General Assembly, involving representatives of 193 UN member states, runs from September 22 to September 28 under the theme, Restoring trust, managing transformation: a United Nations that delivers for all.
