Labour to Decide on Nationwide Action After Meeting with Federal Government Today
Organised labour is expected to decide its next course of action after meeting with the Federal Government today over unresolved demands on petrol prices, wage negotiations and workers’ welfare. The Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress are seeking a reduction in petrol prices to 2024 levels, tax relief for workers, immediate wage awards and the commencement of negotiations for a new minimum wage ahead of the government’s proposed June 2027 review. The meeting follows inconclusive talks on October 22, after which the government requested more time to prepare concrete proposals.
