Kwara PDP Governorship Candidate Expresses Loss of Confidence in Police Commissioner Over Alleged Harassment of Opposition
The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Kwara State,Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu, has expressed a loss of confidence in the state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, over alleged arrests, detention and repeated police invitations involving party members. In a statement issued in Ilorin on Monday, Kawu’s media office also raised concerns over the reported use of tear gas during a peaceful procession at the Emir’s palace, attended by the candidate, Senator Saliu Mustapha and other political figures. The office called on the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to investigate the allegations, warning that the incidents could undermine police neutrality and raise concerns about the treatment of opposition members ahead of the 2027 elections.
