Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci Convicted of War Crimes
Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has been convicted of four counts of war crimes committed during the Kosovo conflict with Serbia in the 1990s.
Thaci, who was a senior commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army, was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Kosovo war crimes tribunal.
The charges include murder, torture and illegal detention. The tribunal also found him guilty in connection with the killing of 96 political opponents and people accused of cooperating with Serbian security forces.
Thaci, who is 58, has denied all the charges against him.
