Wike Is Not Your Problem, Focus on Governance — PDP Faction Tells APC Governors
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party backed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has responded to the All Progressives Congress Governors’ Forum over its position on political alliances ahead of the 2027 elections.
The faction said APC governors should focus on governance and their performance in office rather than Wike’s political activities and his support for candidates outside the APC.
The Progressive Governors Forum had earlier said it would not support any political arrangement that could affect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid or the chances of APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, the Wike-backed PDP faction said Wike’s support for Tinubu does not mean he has left the PDP or given up his political relationships.
The faction also said Wike has the constitutional right to decide who he supports politically and urged the APC governors to concentrate on governance, accountability and the performance of their administrations.
