Adeleke Accuses Oyetola of Threatening Osun Governorship Election
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has accused Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, of making remarks that allegedly suggest plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to undermine the August 15 governorship election. Adeleke, through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, described Oyetola’s statement that the APC would “take over” the state as an open threat to the credibility of the poll, urging democracy advocates and stakeholders to demand a free and fair election. Oyetola, a former Osun governor who lost his re-election bid to Adeleke in 2022, had told APC supporters that Adeleke’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for 2027 would not save his governorship, declaring that the APC would reclaim the state. Adeleke, however, expressed confidence in his re-election, saying Osun voters would resist any attempt to interfere with their democratic rights.
