APC Defends Tinubu’s Reforms, Criticises Obi’s Call for Policy Reset

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has defended the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying Nigeria needs policy continuity rather than a fresh economic direction ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party’s National Vice Chairman (South-East), Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, made the remarks while responding to comments by former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, who criticised the administration’s handling of the economy.

Arodiogbu said reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy, exchange rate adjustments and fiscal restructuring were designed to reposition the economy for long-term growth. He maintained that the policies were beginning to produce results and should be strengthened instead of reversed.

The APC also faulted Obi for highlighting national challenges without presenting practical alternatives, insisting that policy consistency is necessary to sustain investor confidence, infrastructure development, job creation and economic stability. The party urged Nigerians to support the Federal Government’s reform agenda, saying continued implementation and refinement of existing policies would deliver greater economic benefits in the years ahead.
