Kwara APC May Adopt Consensus to Select 2027 Candidates
The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is considering using a consensus approach to select its candidates for the 2027 general elections. This was disclosed by the State Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, during a visit from House of Representatives aspirant Mrs. Florence Oyeyemi, representing the Oke Ero/Isin/Ifelodun federal constituency.
Prince Fagbemi explained that the party aims to streamline aspirants for various positions to maintain unity and avoid contentious primaries. He emphasized that the process will be fair to all participants, regardless of age, gender, or religion, and encouraged aspirants to engage continuously with their constituencies.
Mrs. Oyeyemi stated that her decision to contest was inspired by the APC’s performance at both state and national levels. She cited the development achievements under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, where she previously served as Commissioner for Finance and Planning, and the macroeconomic improvements under President Bola Tinubu as motivating factors for her bid to contribute to national legislation.
The APC leadership urged all aspirants to prioritize grassroots engagement, presenting themselves as the best candidates for voters while fostering a peaceful and united party environment ahead of the elections.
