Kogi Shuts All Schools Until February 16 Over Security Concerns
The Kogi State Government has ordered the temporary closure of all schools in the state until February 16 as a preventive step following credible security intelligence.
The decision, according to the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, was based on credible security intelligence and the need to put protective measures in place around educational institutions adding that Governor Ahmed Ododo has directed relevant agencies to ensure schools resume as soon as it is safe in order to minimise disruption to the academic calendar as the Kogi State Chairman of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Pastor Reuben Jimoh, also confirmed that the midterm break had been fast-tracked into the emergency closure, with schools scheduled to reopen on February 16.
