President Tinubu Approves Posting of Four New Ambassadors
President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates from the 68 confirmed by the Senate last December. According to a statement on Thursday night by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, Ambassador Ayodele Oke has been appointed ambassador-designate to France, Colonel Lateef Are to the United States, Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, former ambassador to South Korea, as high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom, and former Kebbi State Governor Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman as ambassador-designate to Turkey.
The President, in a memo to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, instructed that the governments of the four countries be formally notified of the appointments following standard diplomatic procedures. The posting to Turkey is particularly timed ahead of a scheduled state visit by President Tinubu to the country next week.
