FG, Niger State to Collaborate on Tourism and Cultural Development

January 21, 2026

The Federal Government has announced plans to partner with Niger State to develop its tourism and cultural assets as part of efforts to boost economic growth and diversify the economy. The initiative, highlighted during a meeting between the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, and a Niger State delegation led by Hon. Sa’idu Musa Abdullahi, aims to promote attractions such as Bida, recognized as Nigeria’s first UNESCO Creative City for crafts and folk arts, and events like the Bariki festival. The collaboration, which could be formalized through a forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding under the Renewed Hope Cultural Renaissance Project, will focus on enhancing festivals, cultural sites, and other tourism initiatives to generate revenue, create jobs, and improve livelihoods in the state.
