NOA Pledges Public Support for New Tax Laws Ahead of January Implementation
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has committed to mobilizing nationwide support for the federal government’s new tax reforms, set to take effect in January 2026. Director-General Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu emphasized the importance of public sensitization to counter misinformation and ensure Nigerians understand the benefits of the Tax Act.
Issa-Onilu highlighted NOA’s extensive reach across the country through community engagements, partnerships with over 200 radio and 36 television stations, and modern technologies, including a custom AI-based information assistant called CLHEEAN.
The Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, led by Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, visited NOA to collaborate on disseminating accurate information, particularly to grassroots communities and farmers, to prevent the spread of false narratives. A joint committee of NOA and the Tax Reforms Committee will coordinate communication efforts to educate Nigerians on the law’s advantages.
The Tax Reforms Bill, signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in June 2025, aims to simplify and strengthen Nigeria’s fiscal system while addressing issues like double taxation for businesses and individuals.
