Customs, MAN Agree on Exemptions from Suspended 4% FOB Charge

October 6, 2025

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) have agreed on strategic exemptions from the recently suspended four per cent Free-On-Board (FOB) charge, covering manufacturers importing raw materials, machines, and spares, as well as commercial airlines’ spare parts, healthcare goods, humanitarian supplies, and government projects with Import Duty Exemption Certificates. Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, announced the exemptions after a consultative meeting in Lagos, pointing out that the move shows the Federal Government’s readiness to protecting critical sectors like manufacturing while maintaining an efficient revenue collection system.
