No Nigerian Film to Compete in 2026 Academy Awards International Feature Category

The Nigerian Official Selection Committee (NOSC) has announced that no Nigerian film will be submitted for the International Feature Film category at the 2026 Academy Awards. NOSC chairperson Stephanie Linus revealed that although six films were received after a call for entries, the committee voted by majority to make “No Submission,” citing a gap in creative and technical standards needed to compete globally. The decision has been formally communicated to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
