Thailand’s New PM Vows Reforms, Border Diplomacy, and New Constitution

September 29, 2025

Thailand’s newly elected Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Monday outlined an ambitious agenda to tackle economic hardship, resolve tensions with Cambodia through diplomacy, and push for a new democratic constitution. Speaking in Parliament, Anutin stated his promise to call elections within four months and support a referendum for a new charter, part of a deal with the People’s Party, which now acts as the opposition. He also pledged to reduce household debt, address rising living costs, crackdown on corruption and illegal gambling, and improve disaster preparedness.
