Ogun Police Arrest Wanted Suspect in University Robbery and Rape Case
The Ogun State police command announced the arrest of Shedrack Olawale Olayemi, a 33-year-old man wanted for armed robbery and alleged rape of female students at Tai Solarin University of Education in Ijagun.
The arrest was made by the Igbeba Division in Ijebu-Ode on Monday, following an intelligence report indicating that Olayemi had been seen in the university area, attempting to hide his identity.
According to police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, Olayemi was apprehended after his identity was confirmed by local intelligence.
Following his arrest, a preliminary investigation has begun, and Olayemi has been taken to the Igbeba police station for interrogation and will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution of the charges against him.
meanwhile, the commissioner of Police CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, has directed efforts to locate Olayemi’s accomplices and has urged the Ijagun community to provide credible information that could assist in tracking down other members of the criminal gang involved in these offenses.
