Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former Kaduna State Governor, has filed a lawsuit against the Kaduna State House of Assembly over allegations that his administration misappropriated ₦432 billion, leading to significant state debt.
El-Rufai lodged a fundamental rights suit at the Federal High Court in Kaduna, represented by his lawyer, Abdulhakeem Mustapha , opposed the Assembly’s report, which accused him of corruption, arguing that he was not afforded a fair hearing regarding the accusations leveled against him and his administration.
According to newsmen, the Kaduna State House of Assembly’s ad-hoc committee released a report earlier in June alleging that El-Rufai’s administration misused N234 billion in loans. The committee chair, Henry Zacharia, stated that many loans were not used for their intended purposes and were obtained without following due process.
In response, El-Rufai’s spokesperson, Muyiwa Adekeye, dismissed the report has been politically motivated. However, the former Director General of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Salihu Lukman, and other former commissioners also denounced the report, defending the integrity of El-Rufai’s administration.
