Macron Accuses Foreign Leaders of Using French Riots for Electoral Gains
French President Emmanuel Macron has accused foreign leaders of exploiting riots that erupted across France on Saturday for electoral purposes, alleging that their comments on the violence were aimed at gaining political advantage at France’s expense. Speaking during a visit to the Middle East, Macron referred to leaders campaigning in the region and across the Atlantic, in an apparent reference to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who faces parliamentary elections next week, and United States President Donald Trump, ahead of next month’s midterm polls. Macron also accused the unnamed leaders of being influenced by fake videos generated by artificial intelligence about the unrest, which broke out on the fringes of cost-of-living protests.
