NCAA Raises Alarm Over Rising Fraud in Nigerian Aviation Industry

The Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Chris Najomo, has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to intervene in tackling increasing fraud within Nigeria’s aviation sector. Najomo highlighted issues such as non-remittance of mandatory Ticket Sales and Cargo Sales Charges by some airlines, illegal charter operations, and fraudulent activities in high-value transactions like aircraft purchases and leasing.
Speaking during a visit to EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, Najomo stressed that these fraudulent practices undermine aviation safety, economic regulation, and NCAA’s revenue needed for proper oversight. He urged the EFCC to use its financial intelligence capabilities to investigate suspected cases of revenue diversion and ensure the aviation industry’s integrity.
