Nigerian Stars Lead 2025 AFRIMA Nominations
Nigerian music heavyweights Burna Boy, Davido, Shallipopi, Rema, and Ayra Starr have emerged as top contenders in the 2025 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA). Burna Boy and Davido secured five nominations each, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Collaboration.
South Africa’s DJ Maphorisa and Moroccan rapper El Grande Toto also bagged five nominations apiece, with Shallipopi following closely with four nods, among them Song of the Year and Artiste of the Year. Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz and South African singer Tyla also earned four nominations, while Juma Jux of Tanzania, alongside Nigerian stars Rema and Ayra Starr, each received three. The 2025 AFRIMA ceremony will be hosted in Nigeria, reaffirming the country’s growing influence on the continent’s music scene.
