NYSC Clarifies Misrepresentation of Director General’s Visit to Ogun Orientation Camp

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has expressed dismay over the misrepresentation of facts on social media concerning the recent visit of its Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, to the Ogun State Orientation Camp in Sagamu.
In a statement signed by Eddy Megwa, Director of Information and Public Relations, the NYSC clarified that during his address to corps members, General Ahmed mentioned that they are expected to benefit from the minimum wage once it is approved.
However, he did not state that “the President has approved any increment in corps members’ allowance.”
The statement was issued to correct the misinformation circulating online, which falsely claimed that the President had approved an allowance increase for corps members.
During his visit, which is part of his oversight functions during orientation periods, General Ahmed advised the corps members on various important topics, including patriotism, entrepreneurship, security consciousness, and community development.
He emphasized the significance of these areas in youth development and leadership roles.
