Federal Government makes tertiary education ranking compulsory for all institutions
The Federal Government has made participation in the national tertiary education ranking exercise compulsory for universities, polytechnics and colleges of education across the country. The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, announced this on Tuesday in Abuja, saying the ranking framework will now cover the three categories of tertiary institutions under one system. Alausa said the 2026/2027 ranking for universities will begin in September, while the committee will set the timeline for polytechnics and colleges of education. He added that guidelines would be issued to formally notify heads of institutions that participation is mandatory.
