Nepal floods death toll surpasses 1,000 as nearly 4,000 remain missing

More than 1,000 people have been declared dead in Nepal following last week’s catastrophic floods, with over 3,915 others still missing, including at least 583 foreign nationals, according to Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority. The United Nations says more than 10,000 people have so far been rescued, including 252 foreign nationals, while neighbouring Tibet has recorded at least 16 deaths and 546 missing persons. The United States also says 75 Americans remain unaccounted for, while 14 others have reached safety in Nepal.
