Kwara Police Arrest Suspected Kidnap Syndicate Member Over Ransom Collection
Operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have arrested one Muhamodu Sanni, a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate operating around the Obudu/Woru axis of Ilorin East Local Government Area. Sanni was reportedly intercepted at a Point-of-Sale location while allegedly attempting to withdraw ransom proceeds linked to the abduction of three persons during an armed invasion of Obudu Village on July 28, 2026. The Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, saying the arrest followed intelligence gathering focused on the communication, logistics and financial channels connected to the abduction.
The police said Sanni, during interrogation, provided information on the ransom collection process and identified two other suspects, Aminu and Umar. The command said the information had provided further operational leads into the suspected kidnapping network, with investigations continuing. Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, said the command remained focused on disrupting criminal networks and preventing further attacks, while calling on residents to provide credible and timely information to the police.
