Oloyede Blames Parents for Rising Exam Malpractice

August 3, 2026

Former Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has blamed parents for fueling examination malpractice in Nigeria, saying they play a bigger role than candidates by exposing their children to cheating in a bid to secure admission. He described parents’ involvement in exam fraud as the most painful experience of his ten years in office, warning that such actions introduce young people to criminality and threaten their future.
