APM Demands Transparency on Fuel Subsidy Savings
The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has called on the Federal Government to provide a detailed account of the funds generated from the removal of fuel subsidy, demanding transparency on how the money has been spent since the policy was introduced in 2023.
The party, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, said Nigerians deserve to know the total amount saved, the projects funded with the proceeds, and the impact of the policy on citizens’ welfare.
The APM criticised the government’s explanation that subsidy savings were being invested in critical sectors, describing the claims as insufficient without specific figures, projects, and measurable outcomes.
The party argued that despite the government’s assurances, many Nigerians continue to face economic challenges, including rising living costs, inflation, and declining purchasing power.
It urged the Tinubu administration to publish an independently verifiable report on the utilisation of the subsidy removal funds, insisting that accountability is necessary to build public trust in economic reforms.
