Two Die as Truck, Bus Collide and Burst into Flames in Ogun

July 9, 2026

Two people have been killed in a road crash involving a truck and a commercial bus along the Ogbere–J4 corridor in Ogun State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the accident occurred around 5:10 a.m. on Thursday at Ogbere Junction and involved a Mack truck and a Peugeot J5 bus. Four male occupants were involved, with two dying at the scene while two others escaped unhurt.

The FRSC attributed the crash to route violation and excessive speeding, adding that the impact of the collision caused the bus to catch fire, and its front section was completely burnt.

Rescue officials arrived shortly after receiving the distress call, managed traffic, and removed the wreckage from the road. The bodies of the victims were evacuated by the police and deposited at a mortuary.

The Ogun State FRSC Command has urged motorists to obey traffic rules, avoid speeding, and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy to reduce road crashes.
