AC Milan Approach Pochettino After Allegri Exit
AC Milan have opened talks with Mauricio Pochettino as they search for a new manager following the dismissal of Massimiliano Allegri.
According to BBC Sport, the Italian club is interested in appointing the Argentine once his contract with the United States men’s national team expires after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which the US will co-host with Canada and Mexico. Pochettino remains focused on the tournament for now.
The 54-year-old has been without a club job since leaving Chelsea at the end of the 2023-24 season. During his only campaign at Stamford Bridge, he guided Chelsea to a sixth-place Premier League finish and a Carabao Cup final. He previously won Ligue 1 and the French Cup with Paris Saint-Germain and took Tottenham Hotspur to the 2019 UEFA Champions League final.
Milan sacked Allegri after finishing fifth in Serie A and missing out on Champions League qualification for the second straight year. A 2-1 home defeat to Cagliari on the final day left the Rossoneri in the Europa League despite officials reportedly viewing the season as a major disappointment.
