Police Recover Stolen Vehicle Using Tracking Technology in Kwara
The Kwara State Police Command has recovered a stolen Toyota Matrix vehicle using modern tracking technology, following a swift response to a theft incident in Ilorin.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the vehicle was reported stolen from a parking space at Mandate Market earlier in the day. The report was lodged at the Anti-Car Theft Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Police operatives immediately activated an integrated vehicle tracking and immobilisation system linked to the car’s security device. The technology enabled real-time tracking of the vehicle’s movement and allowed officers to remotely disable its engine.
The vehicle was later located along the Ilorin–Jebba Road, where it had been abandoned by the suspects. Preliminary investigations revealed that the perpetrators attempted to evade detection by altering the vehicle’s registration number, while the original plate was found nearby.
The recovered vehicle has been secured at the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The police command reiterated its commitment to using intelligence-led strategies and modern technology to combat crime and enhance public safety across Kwara State.
