Flooding disrupts power supply in Lagos, Osun as EKEDC, IBEDC announce outages.
Heavy rainfall has disrupted electricity supply in parts of Lagos and Osun states, prompting the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to announce temporary power outages. EKEDC said outages on the Oshogbo-Ikeja and Benin-Egbin 330kV transmission lines reduced electricity allocation from the national grid, affecting several communities across its network in Lagos.
IBEDC said flooding at the Ilerin Injection Substation in Osun disrupted power supply to several communities after three feeders were affected. Both electricity distribution companies said technical teams are working to restore supply, while the Nigerian Meteorological Agency and the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency have continued to warn of increased flooding risks in several states during the peak of the rainy season.
