Iran to Participate in 2026 World Cup – FIFA
President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, has confirmed that Iran will participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
Infantino stated that Iran has qualified for the tournament and will compete, stressing that football should remain separate from political issues.
Iran is scheduled to play its group matches in the United States, with games planned in Los Angeles and Seattle.
The 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is set to kick off on June 11 and will feature an expanded format of 48 teams.
Iran’s participation had been uncertain due to the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel, but FIFA has maintained that all qualified teams will take part.
