Ex-Oyo First Lady Calls for Increased Feeding Allowance in Special Schools
The wife of former Oyo State Governor, Oluwakemi Alao-Akala, has raised concerns over the N300 daily feeding allowance provided to visually impaired students in special schools, describing it as grossly insufficient.
During a visit to the Nigeria Training Centre for the Blind and the Oyo State Special Basic School, Alao-Akala donated uniforms, soap, beads, and other essentials. She urged the government to review the feeding allocation, citing rising food costs.
The former First Lady praised the students’ resilience and vocational skills, encouraging support for institutions catering to persons with disabilities. School officials also stressed the importance of early enrolment and parental engagement in special education.
