Top-50 FIFA Teams Missing 2026 World Cup Announced
According to the latest FIFA rankings, thirteen nations in the top 50 will miss the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Notable absentees include Italy, Nigeria, and Denmark.
Italy, ranked 12th, will miss the tournament for the third consecutive time. Nigeria, ranked 26th, is the highest-ranked African side not qualifying. Denmark, at 20th, is another prominent casualty.
Other teams missing out are Ukraine, Poland, Russia, Wales, Serbia, Hungary, Cameroon, Greece, Slovakia, and Venezuela.
The 48 qualified teams have been drawn into 12 groups of four. France will open their campaign against Senegal on June 16, while Argentina faces Algeria, and England takes on Croatia the same day. The tournament kicks off on June 11 across venues in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
