Gunmen Attack Students’ Hostels at Ekiti State University, Prompting Panic

Chaos erupted late Monday night at Ekiti State University (EKSU) in Ado-Ekiti after gunmen reportedly attacked students’ hostels, forcing residents to flee for safety as eyewitnesses said the assailants moved from hostel to hostel, stealing valuables such as laptops, mobile phones, and cash.

A student on X reported that the attacks occurred in the Phase 2 area of the campus and have disrupted exam preparations over the past three days.

The Ekiti State Police Command confirmed that a suspect has been arrested and that investigations are ongoing. Authorities added that measures have been implemented to prevent further incidents. Students have urged the state government and security agencies to intensify patrols and improve protection around the university.
