JOHESU Strike Persists, NLC and TUC Issue Ultimatum to Federal Government.
Striking health workers under the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) have insisted that only the adjustment of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) will end their ongoing industrial action, as talks with the Federal Government remain stalled as the prolonged stoppage has prompted the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to issue a 14-day ultimatum in solidarity, warning that other affiliate unions may join the strike if the dispute is not resolved by February 6. Furthermore, the Labour leaders have accused the Federal Government of deliberately refusing to implement the salary adjustment, describing the delay as unjust and discriminatory, especially when compared with the earlier adjustment of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure.
