Ex-Lagos Governor Advocates Assertive Response to Travel Bans
Former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola has called on the Federal Government to respond firmly to international visa restrictions affecting Nigerians, urging against a submissive or pleading approach that could further harm the country’s reputation. Speaking at the inaugural Nigeria Reputation Summit in Abuja, he said Nigeria still holds economic leverage through the spending power of its citizens and should protect its national dignity while addressing reputational challenges. Fashola also stressed that ambassadors must be well-grounded in Nigeria’s economic and policy realities to effectively promote national interests, as government officials and stakeholders at the event underscored the need for a coordinated strategy to improve the country’s global image.
