Court Bars Pat Utomi from Forming Shadow Government, Declares Move Unconstitutional
The Federal High Court in Abuja has declared as unconstitutional and void the attempt by Professor Pat Utomi to establish a shadow government in Nigeria. Delivering judgment on Monday, Justice James Omotosho ruled that the 1999 Constitution does not recognise or permit any form of parallel governance, affirming that such an initiative poses a threat to national peace and security. The court sided with arguments presented by the Department of State Services (DSS) and held that any structure outside the legal framework of government would be struck down.
