President Bola Tinubu on Friday arrived at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan, Oyo State, to witness the coronation of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. His arrival was welcomed by a large crowd of dignitaries, traditional rulers, and citizens, marking the climax of week-long celebrations honoring the new monarch. The event drew national attention, reflecting the cultural and historical significance of the Olubadan stool in Yoruba society.
Oba Ladoja, a former Oyo State governor and senator, ascended the throne following traditional rites that included adornment with the Akoko leaf at Oja’ba and receiving the crown at the Ose Meji Temple. A respected statesman and businessman, the 81-year-old monarch rose through the traditional chieftaincy ranks to become Olubadan. He is expected to receive the staff of office from Governor Seyi Makinde during the ceremony.
