NOA DG Tasks Journalists on Accountability at GOCOP Conference

The Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has called on journalists to make political manifestos the focus of election coverage and hold politicians accountable for their campaign promises.
Speaking at the 9th Annual Conference of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers in Lagos, Issa-Onilu lamented the growing trend of sensational reporting, saying that manifestos are key to shaping governance and democratic outcomes.
He noted that President Tinubu’s campaign manifesto took months to prepare and reflects a reform-driven, technology-based vision for national development.
Other speakers, including former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari and Chief Bode George, urged sincerity and effective use of national resources. Professor Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika commended journalists for promoting accountability, while outgoing GOCOP President Maureen Chigbo thanked members for their support and urged continued professionalism.
