Gladys is the upbeat and energetic host of Flow FM’s Flow Rider Show, bringing listeners the best music and entertainment to power them through the workday. With almost a decade of radio experience, Gladys’ warm personality and in-depth music knowledge make her a true asset to the Flow FM lineup.
Tell us about your show on Flow FM – what can listeners expect to hear?
The Flow Rider Show on Flow FM 92.7 airs from 12 – 5 p.m. and it’s the midday or “drive time” show. This is the peak listening time where people are at work but looking to lighten up and mix entertainment with the formalities of the workday. The Flow Rider show is all about providing that premium entertainment – engaging conversations, lifestyle topics, new music, and of course, great music across genres to keep the audience energized and uplifted throughout the afternoon.
What do you enjoy most about being an on-air personality and connecting with the audience?
My favorite part is the music. As an on-air personality, I’m able to immerse myself in different musical worlds – from gospel to pop, R&B to electronic, and beyond. Music puts me in the right mood and energy to bring to my audience. Even if I’m not feeling great before a show, once I’m in the studio and playing music, it creates a separation from any personal issues and allows me to be fully present and connected with the listeners.
I’m also really passionate about having intelligent, in-depth conversations on the show. Radio has a unique ability to facilitate discussions on important topics that people may not normally talk about.
My audience feels like family, and when I put out a question, I often get callers opening up and sharing their own experiences. That connection with strangers over a shared frequency is one of the most beautiful aspects of radio.
How have you and the team been preparing for the upcoming test transmissions?
For the upcoming test transmissions, I’ve been getting myself into a “work mode” mindset, even though it’s not the official launch. I’ve been curating playlists, keeping up with new music releases, and making sure I’m ready to bring the latest hits and trending sounds to the audience. As the midday host, it’s important that I provide that energetic beat and the freshest music to really capture the audience’s attention and show them that Flow FM knows what it’s doing when it comes to entertainment radio.
What are you most excited about in terms of Flow FM’s programming and vision for the station?
I’m so excited about the fresh, innovative style that Flow FM is bringing to the radio landscape here. As a pioneering startup, there’s a certain flexibility and creativity that we’re able to tap into – less rigid than traditional radio. The program lineup is incredible, truly designed to reconnect radio with the people and restore that deep connection that listeners used to have. I remember growing up, my first real introduction to radio was jamming out to a Friday night DJ show with my sister on my pink radio.
That desire to have radio playing in the background while you’re working or doing other things – that’s the kind of experience we want to bring back. Flow FM is all about that freedom, connection, and high-quality entertainment that radio is meant to provide.
