Kwara State Government Provides Indigents with 18,000 New 50kg Bags of Palliative Maize, Sorghum
Kwara State Government is undertaking the distribution of 17,578 50kg bags of maize, sorghum, and millet palliatives, provided by the Federal Government, to assist vulnerable citizens amidst challenges arising from the removal of fuel subsidies.
This initiative aims to alleviate the hardships faced by the less privileged across the state’s 16 local governments.
Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Development, stated that the distribution process adheres to the guidelines set by the Federal Government.
He emphasized that local committees, consisting of various stakeholders, oversee the distribution to ensure transparency and that the aid reaches those in need.
According to Mallam Saadu Mashood Magaji, Secretary for the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the distribution of the palliatives began on June 1st across six local governments and continued in subsequent days to cover all 16 local governments.
He confirmed the smooth and orderly conduct of the distribution, attributing its success to the collaboration between the state government and stakeholders.
Representatives from political wards in each local government ensured the efficient delivery of the palliatives to the intended beneficiaries.
The Director of Personnel Management for Ekiti LG, Ayantola Kunle Mukaila, and Comrade Saaduku Abdullahi from Irepodun local government commended the state and federal governments for their support in executing the program and expressed gratitude for the transparent and well-coordinated distribution process.
The seamless distribution of these essential items underscores the commitment of the Kwara State Government to support vulnerable citizens during challenging times.
