Ex- Nigerian Goalkeeper Peter Fregene Passes Away at 77

Ex- Green Eagles goalkeeper Peter Fregene has passed away at 77 according to News Reports.

The news was announced by his former teammate Segun Odegbami, who confirmed that Fregene died at a hospital in Sapele, Delta State, after a long illness.

He shared that Fregene had been on life support for the past week and passed away quietly in the presence of his two children and his devoted wife, Tina.

In his tribute, he expressed gratitude to all those who supported Fregene during his illness, including family, friends, and fans and acknowledged the collective effort of those who rallied around Fregene, offering prayers and support in his final days.

Fregene had a distinguished career, representing Nigeria at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico and playing for the national team during the 1960s and 70s. His contributions to Nigerian football will be remembered fondly by fans and fellow players alike.
