Orlando Pirates Target Nwabali Amid Goalkeeping Shake-Up

Thabang Stemmer, Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, has highlighted the potential impact Stanley Nwabali could bring to the Sea Robbers if signed this summer.
Nwabali, who garnered attention with impressive performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, has drawn interest from several clubs including Saudi clubs El-Ettifaq, Queen Park Rangers, and local rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
Stemmer believes Nwabali would add more depth to the goalkeeping position should he join the Buccaneers.
“The reason Pirates released the two, I think it’s because they want to beef up with Stanley Nwabali,” said Stemmer to Kickoff.
“Even when I was still playing, Pirates always beefed up with top goalkeepers. All the big teams need top goalkeepers.
“Remember Pirates go deeper in all competitions. If Nwabali comes, it would be a good thing for Pirates. We need competition.”
Orlando Pirates, having recently released Richard Ofori and Siyabonga Mpontshane after their contracts expired, are reportedly among the clubs keen on securing Nwabali’s services. Stemmer believes Nwabali would significantly bolster Pirates’ goalkeeping depth.
