Our patience wearing thin— Fani-Kayode asks South Africa to act over killings of Nigerians

Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Femi Fani-Kayode, has asked the South African Government to act over the recent killings of two Nigerian nationals in Johannesburg. Fani-Kayode, in a statement posted on X, said Michael Fakunle was shot dead at his home on September 4 after allegedly receiving a series of threats, while James Nwankwo died on September 5 following what the envoy alleged were severe interrogation methods by officers of the South African Police Service in Johannesburg. He said the two deaths bring to eight the number of Nigerians allegedly killed in South Africa this year, with four of the deaths allegedly involving South African police officers.
